Packet Inspection Framework – Service Triggers

In the OSS (Operations Support System) and BSS (Business Support System) environment of a communications network, service triggers initiate and coordinate actions across these complex, interconnected systems.

When a customer interaction occurs – for example, purchasing a new product through a self-service portal, reaching a usage limit, or experiencing a network issue detected by the OSS – these events may act as triggers.

Packet Inspection Framework

TruTeq’s packet inspection framework (PIF) allows for detailed inspections of packet-based traffic events. These events are passively monitored by a TruTeq PIF node as they flow between network elements.

The contents of these packets may be used to initiate a service trigger to other network elements.

Existing Support & Rapid Development

TruTeq’s PIF allows detailed examination of various protocols, for example:

  • Diameter messages
  • SMPP and other streaming protocols
  • SIGTRAN messages (e.g. MAP, CAP)
  • TCP/IP events
  • API interactions

Other protocols may be rapidly added using the PIF capabilities.

Countless Use Cases

There are many and varied use cases made possible with Truteq PIF Service Triggers, including;

  • WiFi Calling Auto-Provisioning trigger on Attach request
  • Missed Call Notice trigger on Unavailable
  • SIM Provisioning on Demand on first Attach request
  • Recharge prompt to user on detection of insufficient balance messages

Smart use of Service Triggers is often a key differentiator in the market, TruTeq’s capabilities makes rapid innovation possible.
