TruCom SmarToo
Industrial Communications
The TruCom SmarToo is an intelligent industrialised GSM device that can emulate a standard modem, but that also features powerfull PLC-like programmability. The SmarToo is a drop-in replacement for old GSM modems in remote metering and control applications. By leveraging the beneficial costs of GPRS over CSD, the SmarToo has been shown to pay for itself in as little as 14 months. The ability to seamlessly fall back to CSD if GPRS becomes unavailable, gives the user an extra layer of redundancy that effectively doubles the reliability of the communications.
More than a Modem
The on-board TCP/IP stack allows the user to connect legacy devices to a central server via GPRS without any modification of the metering or control equipment. The SmarToo can also fall back to CSD in the case where GPRS is down or unavailable, thereby increasing the availability and reliability of GSM as a bearer.Four fully programmable inputs are available to perform intelligent tasks on alarms. Any input can send SMS to a number of different numbers, send information via GPRS, increment a counter, reset a timer or do any of a large number of tasks in a script associated with that particular input condition.
Other events that can trigger scripts are serial events, timers expiring, counters reaching a particular value, startup and power down events.
The SmarToo is available in 8 different configurations, allowing for maximum flexibility in the application. Two independent ports are available each with its own communications settings.
The SmarToo also boasts a number of features that protects the user against network lock-ups, loss of GPRS routing, loss of registration and unterminated data calls.
